How an Offset Works

A pair of elbows changes the chimney direction and then returns it toward vertical. The amount of offset depends on the straight chimney length installed between the two elbows. Because an offset changes the load and geometry of the chimney, support requirements become especially important.

Keep chimney runs as vertical as practical and use offsets only when the structure requires them.
