#7 Dektite High-Temperature Roof Boot - Red Silicone

This #7 high-temperature Dektite roof boot is a flexible red-silicone flashing designed to seal pipe penetrations through compatible metal and profiled roofing. The flexible aluminum-backed base conforms to roof ribs and irregular profiles while the silicone cone is trimmed to fit the outside diameter of the pipe.

This high-temperature version is red silicone, not EPDM. DEKS identifies the Premium #7 red-silicone model as DFE207RE.

The outside surface temperature of a chimney or vent can be very different from the exhaust temperature inside it. Always verify that the flashing temperature rating is suitable for the actual pipe and chimney system being used.

Why Use a Flexible Roof Boot?

The flexible base can conform to corrugated or ribbed roofing more easily than a flat metal flashing in many installations. The cone is trimmed to the pipe's outside diameter, then the base is shaped to the roof profile and sealed and fastened according to the DEKS installation instructions and roofing requirements.

Installation Notes

DEKS instructs installers to trim the cone to suit the pipe, shape the flexible base to the roof profile, use appropriate sealant beneath the flange, and fasten it with self-sealing fasteners or sealed rivets. DEKS specifies a neutral-cure, low-modulus silicone for sealing its Dektite Premium flashing.

Roof pitch, roofing material, chimney temperature, local code, and the chimney manufacturer's instructions all affect whether a flexible boot is appropriate. Do not substitute a roof boot for a listed chimney component when the chimney manufacturer requires a different flashing system.
